AgFirst receives Bates-Jones Equity and Philanthropy Award

AgFirst was the proud recipient of the 2024 Bates-Jones Equity and Philanthropy award from the Greater Columbia Community Relations Council during the organization’s recent 60th Diamond Anniversary and Awards Presentation at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center. The award honors Midlands organizations committed to addressing the needs of the community through philanthropy, employee volunteerism or diversity in employment and promotions.

The bank’s contributions set a standard for corporate responsibility,” said Greater Columbia Community Relations Council Executive Director Larry Salley. “We are proud to award the bank with the Bates-Jones Equity and Philanthropy Award for its outstanding efforts and significant contributions to making the Midlands a better place for all.” 

The Bank received the award based on key contributions to the community, including: 

Volunteer service 

Community service is not just a checkbox for AgFirst; it’s ingrained in the company culture, embodying the bank’s dedication to creating a positive impact in the Midlands. Driven by a deep-seated commitment to community betterment, AgFirst employees regularly volunteer in support of local non-profits, and several serve on their boards and committees. 

Financial contributions 

The bank has also been a longstanding community partner by offering monetary support to United Way of the Midlands, FoodShare South Carolina, Transitions Homeless Center, Columbia Urban League, Girl Scouts of South Carolina – Mountains to Midlands and others. AgFirst has donated more than $225,000 to local charitable organizations thus far in 2024.
